Making Life Easy

Ok, Ok, I’m here already and the flakee “Blogging 101” article is gone forever; I know, not very extreme. I hope to add content to this area of Blogging Extreme at least once a month. These two content areas at the top of the homepage were meant for material that I want displayed for most of the year and need to be read by most all that pass by.

This months post deals with making life easier for yourself when it comes to your blog. When I started out blogging, no one really wrote how to manage a blog efficiently. As blogging becomes more competitive, you will have to make sure that you are managed as efficiently as possible; to save time is nothing else.

Life is hard enough, make it easy on yourself and follow my suggestions or put some thought into your own blog habits and make some hard and fast rules to follow. In the coming months I’ll be writing about, managing your future posts, how to manage breaking news, how to manage your media library so that you don’t lose your mind, how to manage your plug-in library, efficient software upgrade, and database management just to name a few.

It would be nice if all we had to do was write, but a blog is a business even if you do it for a hobby …….. if you want to be read you will manage it like a business anyway. There is a way and a means to an end where you can manage with joy. It can be fun. It can be a nightmare. Having to meet deadlines and hassling with tech issues does not a happy blogger make. So make life easy on yourself and check back here for a dose of blogging sanity.

Life After Bloggers

Here at Blogging Extreme, I deal with the most advanced technical problems that bloggers face. This website is not an exhaustive look at the cutting edge of the art. But it will provide you with the answer that you are looking for at the strangest of times. In other words; I’m not the whole pie, just a piece of the puzzle.

Those that have been looking at their blogs for a year or two, maybe more, know that it can be a time killer to have a tech problem that cuts like a knife and seems incurable. With a little patience and time (Google helps), your back in action and that eight figure year looks closer than ever ……….. until the power goes out.

As I sit here this morning, in 18 degree temps, my ISP is frozen, literally ……… I’m in and out. Man ….. it’s just 18 out. It’s not like I’m at the North Pole. Oh well ……. there goes my four figure year !!!

I hate to think that I have banked so much of my future on this interweb thing. While it provides me with a much needed income, if the lights go out, I’m screwed.

While technology is way cool, it’s a really frail thing. I’m afraid if the lights go out, we’re all screwed. Hey …….. I’m just sayin ……….

Gone Phishing. Oh Yeah, Happy New Year !

For the extreme blogger, it is a natural evolution to grow your online e-commerce interest outside of your blog. You get a wild hare one day and off you go …….. sometimes before really thinking it through.

I have a number of interest outside of my blogs, unfortunately I don’t really have enough time to devote to them. Such is

Merry Christmas Everyone !

If you follow, you know that this can be a pretty intense blog …….. ok, boring blog ! Sometimes I think I would rather eat sandpaper than have to post to this blog, not that I don’t love it …….. it’s just that I don’t really care to wallow in all the techie crap when I would rather have fun doing something else instead. But when you get jammed up and you need a quick answer, so that you can get on with it ……… well that’s why I’m here …….. now enough ……… back to the fun part.

I thought I would give it a rest with this weeks post and introduce you to a great little blog from a shameful self-promoter named Jordan Cooper. I actually pick up the contact through David Risley’s site. So without further ado, I present Jordan Cooper; a poet who doesn’t really know it.

Ohh ……. before you leave me, check out this video of Jordan!

Merry Christmas Everyone and God Bless You All !

I Hope to See You All Next Year and Thanks for Following !

Be Careful What You Say!

As you can probably tell by now (probably by noting the name of the featured article category) this is a blog for hi-tech blogging solutions; aka: nuts and bolts. Sometimes though I come up on something cool that I want to share with my readers that I find it the “blog’o'sphere” (did I spell that right?). So this weeks post is centered on comments we all make during the coarse of our week on other peoples websites.

I have always taken the stance that what I say on someone else’s website or blog will stay with that site so that whoever reads it can place it in context.

While I was rummaging about this weekend doing the Google thing, I found a curious entry on the index of one of my blogs. It’s a site called backtype.com

I can’t tell you how many times that I have visted a website and after careful inspection, I have no idea what in the world the site is about. This site has a very clear definition; and I quote: “BackType is a real-time, conversational search engine. (Say What?) Conversational search is a new way of searching the web to surface what reputable people are saying about topics and webpages that interest you. We index and connect online conversations from across the web in real-time, so you can see what people are saying about topics that interest you.” (italics mine)

I seen some great ways to back-link ……… but this takes the cake. When I arrived at the site, I could read everything I had ever said online, at anyones website ……… oh man ……… all on one page no less and apparently in “real time”.

Man ………….. why didn’t I think of that ? Check it out, and remember to be careful what you say out there in cyberspace. Big Brother is Blogging.

Become A Master At MySQL Overnight!

I might miss the mark here, and I am probably over-reaching, but somehow I feel like if I can just cut to the chase, I can get on with my life. Such is my feeling with MySQL when it comes to upgrading my blogs in some shape, way, or form.

MySQL is an integral part of any blog and when it comes time (which is usually every other week or

Where Are All The Bloggers ?

I’ll be the first to admit that this blog is not an easy read. Much more compelling and of greater interest is the blog that can deliver you the goods on a variety of “liqueurs” such as how to make a quick income with this or that affiliate offer or that unmatched SEO software solution. A top gun guest blogger to your own blog is super cool.

Eventually though, you will find yourself face to face with the abominable tech monster. Be forewarned, he’s big and he’s ferocious. That’s where I come in. Let’s call it, Blog Busters. Kinda like Ghosts Busters!

Whenever I have been confronted by the abominable tech monster, I am usually in a fight for my life before I know it. If I could just cut through the static bull, I could get on with my life for goodness sake. Than as quickly as I arrived to the situation, I find the answer and I’m gone. Usually because some sweet sole loved by God decided they would post a solution to an obscure problem on their blog or website.

Don’t forget me please, for this is the focus of this blog ……….. to provide you with that obscure answer to your blogging challenge. And thank you all, for visiting my blog this past year. While there are few that do, I am truly thankful for each and everyone of you.

Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

Content Management Systems

When I am asked to build a website for someone, I need to make the end-user aware that once I’m finished, I will be turning it over to their webmaster of choice. More often than not I get an answer like ……… well ………. there will be three or four that will be working with the site on weekends,

Blog Test Beds

While preparing to head down the road for another day at the office, I always check in on traffic reports (to my websites, that is) and look in on the serps. When looking around Google, I keep coming up on “Bloggers Market Group.com”. This is one on my sites! However, I only use this site as a “test bed”. I actually have two test beds, the other is; “Bloggers Market.net”

I manage 11 blogs so ……… needless to say I stay pretty busy. The last thing I need is to make a change to one of my sites with a time-line in mine and then have something fail along the way. Whether it be a rouge plug-in, rouge code, or just plain carelessness on my part; a break in the rhythm is a total “Buzz Kill”.

I like to push the edge of the envelope when it comes to blogging and the CMS. When attempting to challenge the limits of physics for a blog it really is a good idea to have a test bed so that if your site should suddenly go back in time, you want have to wonder what to do next while your readers are wondering what is going on with your site. If you break, you can just walk away and worry about it later. Man …….. what a luxury.

Of the two test bed sites that I use, I have one that I completely blow-up every time I experiment with it just to see what the CMS will stand. The other is for long term testing to see, if say ……. an ad is received well by others that I ask to review it, or a particular hard code remains stable, or I just wish to see how a new theme will look. When I expect it to break, it doesn’t; when I am absolutely sure it will work, it doesn’t.

One thing is certain, I have never regretted the use of test bed blog websites. Just remember to restrict Google from crawling your online experiments by setting your “Privicy settings in your Dashboard or setting your “Robots.txt” file (I actually use both). If you fail to do so, you just may find that your “Frankenstein” Online has been indexed for all the world to see.

VPS For The Blogger

It would appear that Hostgator.com has finally brought it’s VPS Hosting Services online at last. It seems that VPS is all the rage these days. In talking with different tech-support personal, it seems that the greatest benefit for the bloggers comes with smoother operation, faster response and loading especially with WordPress MU.
